There is a new version of the amazing, best selling 2019 DeMarini CF Zen USSSA bat called the 2019 DeMarini CF Zen Black. The original 2019 CF Zen is pretty much tied with the Marucci Cat 8 as the best selling USSSA Travel Ball Bat this year.
There is no change to the bat other than the “limited edition” graphics. Other than the paint job, DeMarini assures us there is absolutely, 100% no difference whatsoever between the previously released 2019 CF Zen that is curiously still at full price.
Barrel Size
All of the bats pictured above are 30 inches in length. Notice how similar the barrel sizes are in the 30 inch models. The consistency among the lineup ensures an easy transition from a lighter to heavier model as the ball player gets older and moves up to a heavier bat.
Sizes and Weight Drops
Exactly like the earlier 2019 CF Zen, the 2019 CF Zen Black comes in the following weight drops
- Minus 10 Ounce Length to Weight Ratio
- Minus 8 Ounce Length to Weight Ratio
- Minus 5 Ounce Length to Weight Ratio
We did notice the minus 5 version, most commonly used by older and stronger kids, has a thicker grip than the minus 8 and minus 10 ounce versions of the 2019 CF Zen Black.
2019 DeMarini CF Zen Black Review
Even though DeMarini swears this bat is the same as the previous model, we still want to hit it and give a proper bat review when it is released on November 28th, 2018. I have noticed my younger guys (7-9 year olds) in general do better with a metal bat, while my older kids can swing any high end bat and hit the ball well.
