What’s the difference between the new 2019 Louisville Slugger BBCOR bats? You’re in the right place because we fired up the old Iron Mike pitching machine and hit them all, side by side, one after another, over and over, until we couldn’t swing any more. We’ll go over the differences between them below.
We were impressed with our first go around with the 2019 Louisville Slugger BBCOR Prime 919, and have been eager to swing the rest of the 2019 BBCOR bats from Louisville Slugger.
Meet the Bats
There are four different BBCOR bat options from Louisville Slugger this year (soon to be five).
- Prime 919 – Two piece, composite handle and barrel for $449.95
- Select 719 – Two piece, composite handle and aluminum alloy barrel for $349.95
- Solo 619 – One piece, all aluminum alloy bat for $299.95
- Omaha 519 – One piece, all aluminum alloy bat for $199.95
- Meta Prime (See our Prime vs Meta Prime comparison)- Two piece, composite handle and barrel for $499.95
Full disclosure: We get some spare change out of the deal if you buy a bat using the links on this page. If you found this write up useful, please consider using them, and we’ll think of you while we’re using the few bucks to buy a cup of coffee 😉
Best BBCOR Bat?
We get a TON of people here because they searched Google for the “best BBCOR bat“. Here’s the thing… most of today’s high end bats are really good bats. The best BBCOR bat for me might be the wrong BBCOR bat for you. You need to buy a bat that is best suited for your hitting style and your body type/size. I hope this doesn’t start sounding like an ad for Louisville Slugger. We are not afraid to call out a mediocre bat. After hitting these bats all day, we genuinely loved each of the 2019 Slugger BBCOR bats for what they were. They all had good to great pop. Read on for an explanation of each of the Louisville Slugger bats, their differences, and who they are made for.
2019 Prime 919 BBCOR Bat Review
We already did an in depth 2019 Prime BBCOR review, but to sum it up again – Not too balanced, not too end loaded. Incredible pop. This is a bat any player can pick up and be successful with. The two-piece build along with the composite handle and barrel make the Louisville Slugger Prime on of our best BBCOR bats for 2019. The only downside is the price. At $450 the Prime is on the highest end of BBCOR price range. If the high end is where you want to be, we compared the the most expensive 2019 BBCOR bats in our last post.
Also, we added a comparison review of the Prime 919 BBCOR versus the 2019 Meta Prime BBCOR.
2019 Select 719 BBCOR Bat Review
If you are a power hitter, or on the stronger side, our recommendation would be the Select 719 or the Omaha 519. Both bats swing heavier and more end loaded for added power than the Prime and the Solo. The Select 719 has pop on par with the Prime and the best BBCOR bats we have tested, but you will need to have the strength to swing this bat. The Select 719 does a little more of the work for you than a Prime because of the added end load. Much like the Prime 919, the two piece design was comfortable to swing, and provided no sting or vibration in the hands. The only way you’ll be dissapointed with the Select 719 is if you are a line drive hitter, and if that’s the case we recommend the Solo 619.
2019 Solo 619 BBCOR Bat Review
The Louisville Slugger Solo 619 review kind of surprised us. The Solo model didn’t exist until a few years ago, but now the secret is out. The 2019 Solo BBCOR bat is another bat that any player can pick up and be successful with. Just like 2018, the Solo 619 BBCOR has phenomenal pop like the Prime and the Select, but with the lightest swing weight in the entire Louisville Slugger BBCOR line. Just like the Prime and the Select, there is not even a hint of sting or vibration. If you’re hesitant to pull the trigger on the Prime because of the price, the Solo is an excellent bat. You’re giving up only a tiny amount of barrel, but rewarded with a really easy to swing BBCOR, which is a very big deal when kids start throwing faster in high school, AND you’ll save $150 versus the Prime.
2019 Omaha 519 BBCOR Bat Review
The Omaha 519 is the lowest price bat in the Slugger BBCOR lineup, but it’s no slouch. The 519 Omaha BBCOR is a one piece bat made with a slightly thicker alloy, making it a heavier than the Solo 619. The Omaha is a great all around BBCOR, and we absolutely recommend it as as great all around $199 BBCOR bat. The Omaha’s only flaw is there is a little bit of feedback and vibration in the hands. Honestly, though, it’s not bad at all. We just have to make that note to be thorough, because the other bats above have zero vibration at all. Don’t let this keep you from choosing this bat, it’s really barely noticeable.
Power Hitters
Power hitters interested in Louisville Slugger BBCOR bats should swing the Select, Omaha, or even the Prime would work.
Line Drive Hitters
Solo, Prime, and to a lesser extent the Omaha are suggested for line drive hitters.

Great site. Keep up the good work. When will you do the 2019 Louisville Meta Prime review? Curious if the extra money is worth it given that the regular Prime is already premium priced.
Working on a post, but the short answer is: No. The Meta Prime is not any better than the Prime, it is simply a different feel, sound, and larger barrel profile. Remember, larger barrel profile doesn’t necessarily mean better. They both hit the ball very hard.
