As in past years, DeMarini has released a balanced and end loaded version of the CF Zen. Other than the weight distribution, the two models are identical in these two BBCOR bats.

Pop and Performance

The 2019 BBCOR CF Insane is back in the DeMarini lineup again this year with the same drastic end loaded feel. The two piece composite bat produces great pop and seems like it performs just about the same as the balanced CF Zen.

Balance and Feel

This is where the real difference is between the CF Zen and Insane. Holding both of these bats side by side in a size 33″/30oz. I could tell there is a huge difference in feel. If I were to hold the two bats without knowing the size of them, I would have assumed the CF Insane was a 34″/31oz. Vibration is virtually non existent and the flex doesn’t seem overwhelming.

Bat Tech and Features

End loaded swing weight –  Meant to put more mass in the barrel and momentum into your swing

3Fusion connection – Redirects energy back into the barrel

Conclusion

If you enjoy the feel of a composite barrel and end loaded bat, the CF Zen Insane is the way to go. You may also want to look into the 2019 Louisville Slugger Meta, but I personally do not think it’s worth the additional $50. Also, the 919 Meta has a stiffer feel, which sort of replicates the feel of a one piece bat without any vibration.

One Response

  1. My son has broken 2 Easton Ghost X bats in the last 3 months and Easton will not send another replacement. My son is 11, but he is 5’7″ and weighs 178 lbs and really hits the ball hard. He really likes the end loaded bats in -8 and after looking at your page what is your opinion between the Louisville Slugger 919 Prime (-8) and the CF Insane (-8). On durability and performance.
