Marucci has made their first bat designed for the USA bat market: The Marucci Cat USA bat.
Shipping in late May 2019, Marucci brings its proven technologies from their ultra-successful BBCOR Bat and Travel Baseball Bat lineups to the world of USA bats.
Aluminum alloy – AZ105 alloy is Marucci’s strongest metal, allowing for thinner walls and the best barrel response available. AZ105 has been confirmed as the metal being used in the youth Cat USA bat. The Cat USA has a wall thickness similar to the what is used on Marucci’s Cat 7 USSSA/BBCOR bats.
AV2 Anti Vibration Technology – The Marucci Cat USA will also use the proven AV2 Knob to reduce and control vibration in the hands.
MVWD – Multi variable wall design. The Cat USA will have varying thicknesses in the barrel, creating a larger sweet spot, while allowing the bat to be more durable where needed.
Balance? The Cat USA Marucci has a balanced swing weight.
Length to weight ratio – We know the bat will initially be offered in a minus 10 ounce drop.
Barrel Diameter – The barrel is 2 1/2″ in diameter, which is just a little smaller than the maximum 2 5/8″ diameter allowed by the USA standard. This is done to keep the bat light. From what we have seen in the first 2 years of the USA bat standard, barrel diameter is not the end all be all factor in a good bat, don’t let the slightly smaller barrel profile deter you.
Pop? About the same as the Louisville Slugger Solo -11 USA bat, which is good for a USA bat. The Cat USA swings easy and provides an almost true to scale -10 ounce USA bat. My son ultimately chose to keep swinging his 2020 -12 ounce Rawlings Quatro Pro for most at bats.
Marucci Cat 8 USA? Some websites and online forum members are incorrectly calling this the Marucci Cat 8 USA, however, the correct name is the Marucci Cat USA.
