YOU’RE JUST TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE

ILLEGAL BATS - 2020 Louisville Slugger Meta BBCOR Baseball Bat -3oz WTLBBMTB320

There is a reason the 2020 Louisville Slugger META was so popular! Turns out it was a bit too hot (read illegal) for it’s own good. NCAA has decertified the bat for college play (high school has since followed suit), and the META is no longer on the list of approved bats for NFHS which also governs the high school game. The bat lab that tests these bats is constantly testing new and old bats, so if any more sizes/models of Louisville Slugger are affected we will be sure to let you know.

No word yet on if the red 2019 Meta Prime BBCOR will now come under scrutiny, as it has a reputation for performing even better than the now illegal blue 2020 Meta BBCOR did.

High school generally follows college in banned bat situations, however, the bat is now illegal in all high school and college play in the USA. High school did just ban the META BBCOR.

Ban currently only applies to 33/30 META BBCOR.

What should I swing now? Most elite high school and college players are swinging either the Easton ADV BBCOR, Easton Maxum BBCOR, or the Marucci Cat 8 BBCOR bat (for college play you’ll need a Marucci Cat 8 Black since all white barrels are no longer legal in college).

  1. With the bat now being illegal, I’m assuming Louisville is accepting returns for full refunds of $499. Please instruct on how to go about returning ASAP.

    1. Unfortunately, no refunds – but they will give you store credit on their site. If you push, we have heard stories of them refunding so you can get another bat from a different company. Note: we have not been able to confirm if that’s true, but it’s worth a shot!

      1. The 32/29 is currently legal, but no doubt under scrutiny. Odds are if it was going to be banned they would have banned it already, but because of the uncertainty, we have heard from many people that they are not taking the gamble on the Meta BBCOR remaining legal. If it is banned, Louisville Slugger will issue you a store credit, but it is only good for Louisville Slugger bats, and we do not recommend any of their other BBCOR bats right now.

    1. Meta Prime (2019 Red version) is legal in all sizes still. Prices are through the roof, though. Expect to pay between $600 and $900 for a good condition red Meta Prime.

  2. The fact that they wont give you a full refund in check or payment is so disrespectful to me as a customer, they will never have a product in my house ever again.
What about now I need to buy another bat for my son and they want me to use a gift card for another one of their banned bats? It’s BS. As a customer I demand a refund, full refund on my credit card or a check.
