Why this score: The Avenge Pro scores well on sweet spot and feel thanks to the large Blastwall barrel and three-piece Shock Suspension dampening. Power and swing weight are strong for a balanced composite. Durability is good but composite plus the multi-piece connection carries a touch more long-term risk than alloy, and value is solid at current closeout pricing.

Our Review

The Avenge Pro is Axe's flagship composite, and its defining feature is the asymmetric Axe handle that lets hitters index the barrel and keep the hitting face consistent. The 2022 model is a three-piece Charged Carbon+ build with Shock Suspension between the pieces, so feedback on mishits is nearly gone, and the ACR Blastwall barrel is large and forgiving with a low MOI for a quick swing. It is a comfortable, smooth-swinging composite that rewards hitters who buy into the angled-handle concept; the ergonomic knob takes a few rounds to get used to if you are coming from a conventional bat.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Angled Axe handle promotes a consistent barrel face and comfortable grip
  • Three-piece Shock Suspension kills vibration on mishits
  • Large, low-MOI Blastwall barrel swings fast and forgives misses

Cons

  • Angled handle takes adjustment for hitters used to a round knob
  • Composite needs break-in to reach full pop
