2026 Victus JC24 Pro Reserve Birch Wood Bat Review
The birch version of Victus's best-selling JC24: the same reinforced, balanced 271-style turn rendered in more flexible, flake-resistant birch for hitters who want a softer-flexing feel.
The Score
How we score ↗The grade, density and grain of the billet — slope-of-grain, ink-dot certification, and whether it’s a true pro-cut. The headline for a wood bat. A primary driver of the overall score.
Barrel size and the turn-model profile (110/243/271/I13 and the like) — how much hitting surface and forgiveness the shape gives you.
This bat: Balanced 271-style barrel gives a consistent hitting zone.
How the wood feels and sounds at contact — the flex/stiffness of the handle, and the crack off a quality billet.
This bat: Birch flex plus a thick handle gives a smooth, forgiving feel.
How well the wood holds up — density and grain quality (and, for composite wood, engineered toughness). Far more important on a wood bat than on alloy.
This bat: Reinforced taper and flake-resistant Ink-Dot birch; 45-day warranty.
How hard the ball comes off for a wood bat — real, but a lighter factor here since wood isn’t about chasing max exit velocity.
This bat: Contact-oriented turn favors control over maximum mass.
Quality per dollar versus comparable pro-grade or composite wood. Shown for context; NOT factored into the overall score.
This bat: Strong pro-grade durability at a fair price.
Why this score: The reinforced turn and flake-resistant birch drive top feel and durability marks; balanced control is excellent, with power a notch behind big-barrel turns.
Our Review
The JC24 in birch keeps the profile that made the maple version Victus's most popular bat — a 271-style turn thickened through the handle and taper to survive contact — but swaps in pro birch for a more flexible, forgiving response. Birch breaks in over time and resists the flaking that ends maple bats, at the cost of a touch less surface hardness. It stays balanced and easy to control, which makes it a strong metal-to-wood crossover and a fit for contact hitters who drive the gaps. With Ink-Dot grain quality and the ProPACT finish, it's a durable, sensible alternative to the maple JC24.
