Why this score: The CAT8 Connect earns strong power and durability marks: the AZ105 barrel is loud, durable, and end-loaded for easy carry. Swing weight scores lower because the load is heavy, and the alloy ceiling keeps it below the best composites. No-break-in alloy and proven longevity make it a solid value.

Our Review

The CAT8 Connect built its following on a simple formula: take the loud, durable AZ105 barrel from the standard CAT8 and add a composite handle plus extra barrel mass, and you get a higher-MOI bat that rewards stronger swings with easy distance. The SDX EXT connection keeps the two-piece stiff so energy transfers cleanly while the AV2 knob softens vibration on off-center contact. It is genuinely end-loaded, which is why it became a staple for power hitters and a poor fit for hitters who need bat speed. The AZ105 alloy is hot out of the wrapper with no break-in and holds up across seasons, which is the quiet reason this line stayed in lineups for years.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • AZ105 super-strong alloy is hot out of the wrapper with no break-in
  • End-loaded barrel and composite handle add real power for strong hitters
  • SDX EXT connection plus AV2 knob keep the two-piece feel stiff and comfortable

Cons

  • The end load makes it heavy and hard to handle for contact or smaller hitters
  • Alloy barrel performance ceiling trails premium composite BBCOR bats
