Why this score: A clean refinement of Mizuno's one-piece composite with a bigger sweet spot and reliable pop; the stiff feel and modest brand demand keep it a strong value pick rather than a category leader.

Our Review

The F20 Carbon 1 (model 340531) is the 2020 evolution of Mizuno's one-piece composite fastpitch line. It keeps the carbon double-wall barrel - a flexible outer wall over a low-compression inner wall for higher ball speeds - and adds XZone technology to optimize the barrel's hitting area for a slightly larger, more forgiving sweet spot than the F19. Anti-shock construction in the one-piece build helps tame the feedback that one-piece bats can produce, and the swing stays balanced and easy to control. Certification covers ASA/USA, USSSA 1.20 BPF, NSA and ISA. As with all one-piece bats the feel is stiff and direct rather than the dampened two-piece sensation of a Ghost, which is a matter of preference. Mizuno's fastpitch line remains underrated and undervalued versus the marquee names, so at closeout pricing the F20 Carbon 1 is a smart pick for a hitter who wants quick pop and a connected feel without paying premium-brand prices.

Also worth a look: Easton Ghost Unlimited — our top fastpitch pick - the benchmark for feel and pop.
