Why this score: Scored within the entry-level fastpitch category: the light swing, durability and value are strengths for a starter bat, while power and sweet spot are limited by the basic one-piece alloy design. The Ghost remains our benchmark fastpitch recommendation.

Our Review

Part of Mizuno's Jennie Finch Collection, the 2026 Finch is a one-piece MZ-2200+ aluminum bat designed to be lightweight, comfortable and durable for beginning fastpitch hitters. The featherweight -13 swing and 2 1/4-inch barrel make it easy for young players to control through the zone, and a Speed-Helix grip adds comfort. It carries broad approval for USA Softball, USSSA, NSA, ISA and WBSC play. Performance is entry-level by design, but as an affordable, name-brand starter bat it does its job well; for hitters ready to step up, the Easton Ghost is our top fastpitch pick.

Also worth a look: Easton Ghost Unlimited — our top fastpitch pick.
