How we score ↗How big and forgiving the barrel is — based on barrel length, construction (one- vs two-piece, alloy vs composite), and how it plays on balls hit off the center. A primary driver of the overall score.
Raw exit velocity and distance. We use measured numbers from freely available independent testing when they exist; otherwise construction and consensus, judged against the certification’s performance ceiling. A primary driver of the overall score.
Comfort and feedback on contact — vibration dampening from the knob/connection, the sting of a stiff one-piece vs a smooth two-piece, and the sound off the barrel. A primary driver of the overall score.
How well it holds up and how the company stands behind it — documented cracking/denting reports, cold-weather behavior, and the brand’s real warranty record. Good to know, but weighted lightly in the score.
Our take on price-for-performance — the overall package weighed against its cost and what comparable bats run. Shown for context; it is NOT factored into the overall score (price changes too often and is personal).
Why this score: First-pass estimate based on Axe's published specs and price tier (no independent testing available yet for this brand-new line). Sweet spot and power reflect the 13" composite barrel design; durability is held slightly conservative pending real-world break-in reports on a first-year composite; value reflects a $319.99 price in line with established USSSA composite competitors.
Our Review
The Fury Bravo is one of three new nameplates in Axe's first serious push into USSSA slowpitch composite bats for 2026, alongside the Dabacle and Disturbance. It uses a 13-inch Hyperflex composite barrel that Axe markets as holding low compression over multiple sessions, a two-piece composite build meant to cut down on sting, and Axe's signature flared handle (a standard round Axe handle is also offered) for grip leverage. It's available balanced or with a 0.5 oz end load, at 25-27 oz swing weights, and runs $319.99 across configurations — in line with established USSSA composite slowpitch bats from Miken, Worth, and Combat. Because this is a first-year line with no independent lab or field testing yet available, the specs below are Axe's own claims plus manufacturer photography; treat the rating as a first-pass estimate pending real-world hitting data.
