Why this score: The RCKLESS scores at the top on sweet spot and power thanks to the extended AZR barrel and slight end-load — it's one of the top one-piece alloys in the category, a genuine bomb-dropper. Marucci's one-piece alloy durability record is among the best around. Feel is good for a stiff bat thanks to the dampened knob, and value is solid for a premium alloy. The slight end-load keeps it just shy of the most balanced gamers for pure speed hitters.

Our Review

The CATX RCKLESS is Marucci's newest one-piece alloy gamer, and it keeps everything that makes the CAT line good while nudging the profile toward power. The AZR barrel is roughly an inch longer than the CATX2 with the multi-variable wall +Plus design, so the sweet spot is big and the pop is immediate with no break-in. The swing trades a touch of the CATX2's balance for a slight end-load, which rewards hitters who generate their own bat speed. A liquid-gel-style dampening setup and quality grip keep feedback clean for a stiff one-piece. It's one of the better alloy BBCORs on the shelf right now.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Long AZR alloy barrel with a big, consistent sweet spot
  • Hot out of the wrapper with no break-in
  • Slight end-load adds power for strong, fast-handed hitters

Cons

  • End-load won't suit pure contact or speed hitters
  • Stiff one-piece still gives some feedback on bad mishits
