Why this score: As with the BBCOR version, durability and value carry the score for a rugged, affordable one-piece alloy, and the balanced -10 swing is easy for younger hitters. Sweet spot is good for alloy, while power and feel are limited by the single-wall construction.

Our Review

The Hot Metal USSSA -10 is a one-piece alloy big-barrel built for younger travel-ball hitters who want a durable, no-break-in bat with a forgiving sweet spot. CorTech variable wall thickness and the optimized end cap help size up the barrel and keep MOI in check, so the balanced swing stays quick for smaller hitters. It is a single-wall alloy, so it trades away top-end composite pop, but it is rugged, plays well in cold weather, and is priced reasonably at $299.95. A sensible, value-minded USSSA option.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Durable one-piece alloy, no break-in
  • Balanced swing is friendly for younger hitters
  • Reasonable $299.95 price for a big-barrel USSSA bat

Cons

  • Single-wall alloy lacks premium composite pop
  • Stiffer feel on mishits than a two-piece
