How we score ↗How big and forgiving the barrel is — based on barrel length, construction (one- vs two-piece, alloy vs composite), and how it plays on balls hit off the center. A primary driver of the overall score.
This bat: 13.5-inch barrel gives a long hitting surface.
Raw exit velocity and distance. We use measured numbers from freely available independent testing when they exist; otherwise construction and consensus, judged against the certification’s performance ceiling. A primary driver of the overall score.
This bat: Half-ounce XL load helps but this is not a max-load bat.
Comfort and feedback on contact — vibration dampening from the knob/connection, the sting of a stiff one-piece vs a smooth two-piece, and the sound off the barrel. A primary driver of the overall score.
This bat: R-FLEX two-piece takes the sting out.
How well it holds up and how the company stands behind it — documented cracking/denting reports, cold-weather behavior, and the brand’s real warranty record. Good to know, but weighted lightly in the score.
This bat: Two-piece X868 composite with a one-year warranty.
Our take on price-for-performance — the overall package weighed against its cost and what comparable bats run. Shown for context; it is NOT factored into the overall score (price changes too often and is personal).
This bat: Under MSRP with warranty coverage.
Why this score: Scored beside the 2026 Worth Bedlam XL USSSA, which shares the XL load and two-piece build; the Thumper gets a small sweet-spot bump for its longer barrel. No lab data exists for this model.
Our Review
The 2026 Worth Thumper XL Wood Look is a two-piece USSSA slowpitch bat built around a 13.5-inch X868 Composite barrel finished to look like a wood bat. That barrel length is the headline: it is among the longest in the game, giving a big hitting surface for hitters who want maximum plate coverage. The XL designation adds a 0.5 oz end load for extra momentum at contact, and Worth's R-FLEX handle works with the two-piece design to keep the feel smooth through the swing. It comes in 25, 26 and 27 oz, is approved for USSSA, ISA and NSA, and carries a one-year warranty — a plus against some of the no-warranty competition in this price range. It is currently listed below its $329.99 MSRP. The combination of a very long barrel and a modest half-ounce load makes it more approachable than a full Maxload-style bat, and a good choice for the USSSA hitter who wants barrel first and load second.
