2027 DeMarini Exile USSSA Bat Review
A new one-piece X14 alloy USSSA travel bat in -10/-8/-5 — the largest legal 2 3/4" barrel, an ultra-light swing and a Tracer end cap, built as a clean alloy option for hitters who don't want a composite. First-pass rating from the Exile platform and the one-piece alloy class.
The Score
How we score ↗How big and forgiving the barrel is — based on barrel length, construction (one- vs two-piece, alloy vs composite), and how it plays on balls hit off the center. A primary driver of the overall score.
Raw exit velocity and distance. We use measured numbers from freely available independent testing when they exist; otherwise construction and consensus, judged against the certification’s performance ceiling. A primary driver of the overall score.
Comfort and feedback on contact — vibration dampening from the knob/connection, the sting of a stiff one-piece vs a smooth two-piece, and the sound off the barrel. A primary driver of the overall score.
How well it holds up and how the company stands behind it — documented cracking/denting reports, cold-weather behavior, and the brand’s real warranty record. Good to know, but weighted lightly in the score.
Our take on price-for-performance — the overall package weighed against its cost and what comparable bats run. Shown for context; it is NOT factored into the overall score (price changes too often and is personal).
Why this score: First-pass rating: a credible one-piece alloy travel bat — light and responsive — scored in the middle of the class for a harsher mishit feel and a lower ceiling than composite, and held in line with the Exile BBCOR (6.7) we already rate. Per our brand policy we weight durability and value down for DeMarini. We'll confirm with testing.
Our Review
The Exile USSSA is DeMarini's one-piece X14 alloy travel bat, the aluminum companion to the Exile BBCOR. It runs the largest legal 2 3/4" USSSA barrel with a lightweight Tracer composite end cap for a fast, light swing, in -10, -8 and -5, pitched at hitters who want consistent alloy feel and no break-in. A one-piece alloy at this stiffness rewards bat speed but sends more feedback to the hands on mishits, and it won't match a hot composite for raw pop. This is a preliminary first-pass rating from the bat's build, platform and class; we'll firm it up once there's testing to stand on. As with any DeMarini bat, weigh durability and warranty before buying — the brand's record on both trails the field.
Also worth a look: Marucci F5 USSSA — a durable one-piece alloy travel bat with honest pop and a far stronger durability record.
