2027 Easton Hype Fire Junior Big Barrel USSSA Bat Review
The Junior Big Barrel version of the 2027 Hype Fire gives coach-pitch players a one-piece TCT composite in 25"–27" lengths — the only one-piece bat in the Hype Fire family.
The Score
How we score ↗How big and forgiving the barrel is — based on barrel length, construction (one- vs two-piece, alloy vs composite), and how it plays on balls hit off the center. A primary driver of the overall score.
Raw exit velocity and distance. We use measured numbers from freely available independent testing when they exist; otherwise construction and consensus, judged against the certification’s performance ceiling. A primary driver of the overall score.
Comfort and feedback on contact — vibration dampening from the knob/connection, the sting of a stiff one-piece vs a smooth two-piece, and the sound off the barrel. A primary driver of the overall score.
How well it holds up and how the company stands behind it — documented cracking/denting reports, cold-weather behavior, and the brand’s real warranty record. Good to know, but weighted lightly in the score.
Our take on price-for-performance — the overall package weighed against its cost and what comparable bats run. Shown for context; it is NOT factored into the overall score (price changes too often and is personal).
Why this score: First-pass score, clearly labeled: no independent data exists for the new TCT barrel in the junior format. Scored for its age group — barrel size and swing ease are what count at coach-pitch, and this delivers both; power expectations are naturally modest.
Our Review
Coach-pitch and junior USSSA players get their own Hype Fire for 2027: a one-piece composite built on the new TCT barrel in 25", 26", and 27" lengths at a -10 drop. Where every other bat in the family is a two-piece with the ConneXion Max connector, the Junior Big Barrel keeps it simple — one piece, light swing, big 2 3/4" barrel that gives the youngest swings maximum surface to work with. At $299.99 it's priced like a serious bat, because it is one; families who plan to hand it down a sibling or two will get their value. As with the rest of the 2027 line the TCT barrel is new and unmeasured, so this is a first-pass score based on the family's record and the simpler one-piece format at this age level, where forgiveness matters far more than top-end pop.
