Our Review
The Speed is the entry point to Easton's BBCOR line and a deliberately simple bat: one piece of enhanced ALX50 alloy, a forged end cap, a 1.8mm Flex grip, and a swing weight built light so a 14-year-old can be on time with a -3 for the first time. It comes in 30" through 34" and it costs $109.99. There is no connection piece or composite handle because at this price there shouldn't be; what you are paying for is a legal, durable barrel that is ready on the first swing of tryouts. The limits are the ones every entry alloy has. The sweet spot is compact, exit speeds trail the mid-tier ALX100 Tango slightly and the flagship bats by a lot, and jam shots sting. We scored the 2025 Speed (EBB5SPD3) at 6.1; the 2027 is the same recipe at a $20 higher price, so that carries as a first pass. For a freshman or JV player who needs a -3 and a parent who doesn't want to spend $400 on a bat that will be outgrown in a year, it is a sensible buy.
