2027 Louisville Slugger Kryo ONE Fastpitch Bat Review
Louisville Slugger's new one-piece Kryo: a stiff GO-EX+ gapped-wall composite with the sweet spot moved toward the end cap and a Tuned Mass Damper in the handle, launching September 16 in -8, -9, -10 and -11.
The Score
How we score ↗How big and forgiving the barrel is — based on barrel length, construction (one- vs two-piece, alloy vs composite), and how it plays on balls hit off the center. A primary driver of the overall score.
Raw exit velocity and distance. We use measured numbers from freely available independent testing when they exist; otherwise construction and consensus, judged against the certification’s performance ceiling. A primary driver of the overall score.
Comfort and feedback on contact — vibration dampening from the knob/connection, the sting of a stiff one-piece vs a smooth two-piece, and the sound off the barrel. A primary driver of the overall score.
How well it holds up and how the company stands behind it — documented cracking/denting reports, cold-weather behavior, and the brand’s real warranty record. Good to know, but weighted lightly in the score.
Our take on price-for-performance — the overall package weighed against its cost and what comparable bats run. Shown for context; it is NOT factored into the overall score (price changes too often and is personal).
Why this score: First-pass score, clearly labeled: no independent exit-velocity data yet for the 2027 edition. Anchored to the 2027 Kryo 2 (7.5) and 2026 Kryo (7.8). Durability reflects the documented issues with Louisville Slugger's composite fastpitch line; value reflects $449.95. Coming soon — score hidden until release.
Our Review
The Kryo ONE is the one-piece answer to the two-piece Kryo 2 that Louisville Slugger launched for 2027. Retail listings describe a stiff, one-piece GO-EX+ composite with the gapped-wall barrel system, an optimized sweet spot pushed closer to the end cap on what LS calls its longest barrel, and a Tuned Mass Damper inside the handle to absorb vibration on mishits while still giving the hitter feedback. Swing weight is ultra-balanced and lighter through the zone than the original Kryo, which is the design brief: an elite high school or college hitter who wants a fast, connected, stiff bat rather than the softer feel of a two-piece. It launches September 16 in -8 (WBL4275010), -9 (WBL4274010), -10 (WBL4273010) and -11 (WBL4272010) at $449.95. We score it as a first pass off the Kryo 2 platform (7.5 with us) and the 2026 Kryo (7.8). Sweet spot and power get credit for the gapped-wall barrel and the end-cap-biased sweet spot; feel is held to the mid-7s because a stiff one-piece with a damper is still a stiff one-piece; durability is held to 6.0, which is where every Louisville Slugger composite fastpitch bat sits with us until the line's documented cracking history is behind it. Value is limited by the price. We'll revisit once it's on shelves and there's real data.
Pros & Cons
Pros
- One-piece stiff composite for the elite hitter who wants direct feedback and maximum energy transfer
- Ultra-balanced swing weight — lighter through the zone than the two-piece Kryo
- Tuned Mass Damper in the handle absorbs mishit vibration without a connection piece
- Four drops (-8/-9/-10/-11) at launch
Cons
- $449.95 — top of the fastpitch market
- Louisville Slugger's composite fastpitch line has a documented history of durability complaints; a one-piece has no connection to fail but the barrel is the same story
- Not released yet — no measured performance data; score is a first pass
