Our Review

The Halo is Rawlings starting over in fastpitch: an all-new two-piece composite platform, not an update of the Mantra. The barrel is a gapped-wall design with what Rawlings calls Halo Ring Technology — a foam ring seated between the inner and outer barrel walls to quiet feedback and stretch the sweet spot — locked to the end cap by a Rebound Lock latch for stability. A cushioned Comfort+ knob finishes the package. All four drops swing balanced, from a whippy -11 for younger contact hitters to a -8 that's the heaviest balanced model in the lineup for power. Launch inventory was limited enough that Rawlings ran a VIP queue. It's too new for independent measurements, so this is a first-pass score: the design brief reads like a direct answer to the gapped-barrel bats that dominate fastpitch, and at $399.99 it undercuts most of them. One flag worth knowing: the -11 is not approved for college play.

Also worth a look: Easton Ghost Unlimited — the proven fastpitch benchmark while the Halo builds a track record.
