2024 DeMarini The Goods BBCOR Bat Review
DeMarini's flagship power bat: a heavy, end-loaded X14 alloy barrel on a composite handle. The Goods hits big and loud for a strong, fast-handed hitter; the catch is DeMarini's durability and warranty record.

How we score ↗How big and forgiving the barrel is — based on barrel length, construction (one- vs two-piece, alloy vs composite), and how it plays on balls hit off the center. A primary driver of the overall score.
Raw exit velocity and distance. We use measured numbers from freely available independent testing when they exist; otherwise construction and consensus, judged against the certification’s performance ceiling. A primary driver of the overall score.
Comfort and feedback on contact — vibration dampening from the knob/connection, the sting of a stiff one-piece vs a smooth two-piece, and the sound off the barrel. A primary driver of the overall score.
How well it holds up and how the company stands behind it — documented cracking/denting reports, cold-weather behavior, and the brand’s real warranty record. Good to know, but weighted lightly in the score.
Our take on price-for-performance — the overall package weighed against its cost and what comparable bats run. Shown for context; it is NOT factored into the overall score (price changes too often and is personal).
Why this score: On performance The Goods earns its reputation: the end-loaded X14 barrel and Half + Half build deliver legitimate top-tier power and a loud sweet spot for a strong, fast-handed hitter. It falls short on the long game, where the bat's documented breakage history and DeMarini's stingy warranty support pull down durability and value; a more dependable alternative gives similar pop with less risk.
Our Review
The Goods is one of the most end-loaded sticks in BBCOR, and for a strong hitter who keeps the head through the zone the X14 alloy barrel delivers serious, loud power. The Half + Half hybrid build keeps the handle dampened while loading mass into the barrel, which is exactly the profile dedicated power hitters chase. Our concern is not the performance, it is longevity and support: these bats have a long history of cracking and the warranty service tends to be slow. If you want this end-loaded power profile, a Marucci CATX2 or a Victus alternative will give you comparable thump with a better track record of holding up.
Also worth a look: Marucci CATX2 — A comparable BBCOR -3 power option with a hot, lively barrel and no break-in. Marucci's AZR alloy and warranty department have a far stronger documented durability record than The Goods..
Insider Note
On a visit to DeMarini's factory in Oregon, I saw 4-5 pallets of broken bats waiting on warranty returns - and was told that's a normal day. Durability has always been the knock on DeMarini, and it's a big reason we steer hitters to brands that stand behind their product.
