Why this score: First-pass score, clearly labeled: no independent exit-velocity data yet for the 2027 edition. Carried from the 2024 Rebel (ESD4RBL) assessment: same ALX75 loaded one-piece recipe. Sub-$175 non-wood ceiling applies.

Our Review

The Rebel sits one step above the Hammer in Easton's 2027 slowpitch line and shares its ALX75 alloy and 12" barrel. What the extra $20 buys is sizing: 33"/26oz, 34"/28oz and a 34"/30oz, the last of which is the reason this bat exists. Most value alloys top out at 28oz; the Rebel gives the big pull hitter a genuinely heavy, loaded club at a price that doesn't hurt when it eventually dents. On the field it behaves like the entry alloy it is. The barrel is stiff with a compact sweet spot, and exit speeds are well behind the composites in this league; what you get is a predictable, immediate response and a bat that is legal everywhere (USA/ASA, USSSA, NSA, ISA, WBSC). The 2024 Rebel we reviewed scored in the high 5s and nothing in the 2027 description suggests a materials change, so we carry that assessment as a first pass. It is a good team bat and an honest heavy-swing option; a Ronin 240 is the better alloy if you want real pop.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • 34"/30oz option is rare at this price and suits strong hitters who supply their own bat speed
  • One-piece alloy durability; no break-in, no weather sensitivity
  • Full sanctioning slate for league flexibility

Cons

  • Same ALX75 entry alloy as the Hammer, so the barrel response is modest
  • Loaded feel plus 30oz is a lot of bat for anyone but a power hitter
  • One-piece alloy sting on mishits
