Our Review

Most junior big barrel bats are entry alloys with the family paint job; the RCKLESS Gen 2 JBB is the actual RCKLESS Gen 2 barrel cut short. That means the thermally treated, multi-variable-wall alloy with the CNC machining pass that lengthens the sweet spot, in a 2 3/4" profile at 24", 25", 26" and 27", -10, with the AV3 anti-vibration knob keeping small hands comfortable. It carries the USSSA 1.15 BPF stamp. For a 6-to-8-year-old in their first coach-pitch or kid-pitch tournaments it is more barrel than they can fully use, but that's what a parent buying up is paying for: instant response, forgiveness on the inevitable mishits, and a bat that plays the same in the cold. The Comp version at $229.99 hits a little harder and swings a little lighter; the alloy is the more durable, lower-maintenance choice. Scored as a first pass against the composite Hype Fire JBB (7.7).

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Same thermally treated, CNC-refined barrel as the full-size RCKLESS Gen 2
  • Four lengths (24"–27") — one of the widest JBB size runs
  • No break-in, no babying — a real barrel for the first seasons of kid pitch

Cons

  • $179.99 is a lot for a bat with a two-season window
  • One-piece alloy sting even with the AV3 knob
  • Sold out at CheapBats at the time of writing
