Our Review
USSSA is where composite bats dominate, so an alloy has to make a specific case, and the RCKLESS Gen 2 does: it's ready on the first swing, it doesn't crack in March, and it costs $100 less than Marucci's own RCKLESS Gen 2 Comp. The barrel is the thermally treated, multi-variable-wall design from the BBCOR RCKLESS Gen 2, refined with a new CNC machining pass that lengthens the sweet spot, in a full 2 3/4" profile. The AV3 anti-vibration knob in the handle eats most of the mishit sting. It comes in -10 (28"–31"), -8 (30"–32") and -5 (30"–32") with the USSSA 1.15 BPF stamp. The BBCOR version of this platform scored 8.7 with us and the alloy family's reputation for a long, hot sweet spot is well earned; under the more permissive USSSA standard the gap to the composites is real on peak exit speed but the alloy holds its own on consistency. As a first pass we place it just below the RCKLESS Gen 2 Comp USSSA (8.5) and give it the edge on durability and value.
