Why this score: Power and feel score well thanks to the hot 13.5-inch barrel and dampened two-piece joint. Swing weight drags from the full end load, and value/durability are tempered by its 1.20-BPF-only certification, which limits where it can be used today.

Our Review

The Fire Flex v2 was Easton's follow-up to the original Fire Flex that helped popularize the soft, hot-out-of-the-wrapper composite barrel in slowpitch. The v2 pairs a 13.5-inch, 360 EXACT Carbon barrel with the two-piece ConneXion+ joint, which Easton redesigned to cut hand vibration on mishits. The full one-ounce end load makes this a dedicated power bat that rewards hitters with the strength to keep bat speed up through the zone. Because it predates the USSSA 240 NTS compression standard, the v2 is a 1.20 BPF bat that is legal in USSSA, NSA and ISA play under the older rules, but it will not pass the newer NTS-tested requirement that some 2023-and-later associations enforce. For league play under 1.20 BPF rules it remains a genuinely hot barrel; for tournaments that have moved to the 240 standard, buyers should confirm legality first. As an older composite it is well past any break-in and should be at full pop.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • 360 EXACT Carbon barrel delivers the hot-out-of-the-wrapper feel the Fire Flex line is known for
  • Full one-ounce end load suits dedicated power hitters
  • Redesigned ConneXion+ joint reduces sting on mishits

Cons

  • 1.20 BPF only, so it will not pass the newer USSSA 240 NTS standard
  • Heavy end load is unforgiving for contact-oriented swingers
