Why this score: The -10 Alpha ALX swings lighter and more balanced than the BBCOR version, which makes it a better fit for developing hitters who want alloy pop without an end-load. The R5 FlyWall barrel is responsive with a clean sweet spot, the Power Boost knob takes some edge off contact, and durability is solid. It's still a one-piece, so mishits sting, and the pop is good rather than elite, but as a past-year alloy it's priced to move.

Our Review

The USSSA Alpha ALX takes Easton's one-piece R5 alloy barrel and tunes it into a lighter, balanced -10 that's much friendlier to young hitters than the loaded BBCOR model. The ringless FlyWall barrel is responsive with a tidy sweet spot, and the Power Boost soft knob adds a bit of leverage while trimming the harshest feedback. It's still a single-piece bat, so mishits sting, and the pop is solid rather than class-leading against premium composites. Discounted as a past-year model, it's a dependable, easy-swinging alloy option for travel ball.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Light, balanced -10 swing is well-suited to younger and developing hitters
  • Responsive R5 ring-free FlyWall barrel with a clean, ready-to-hit sweet spot
  • Power Boost soft knob softens contact, and past-year pricing is friendly

Cons

  • One-piece alloy still transmits sting on off-barrel contact
  • Good pop, but it trails premium composite USSSA bats on top-end exit velocity
